Anita’s story test
Anita is from a rural Andean community and was supported by LAFF partner Sacred Valley Project to successfully graduate from high school. Before starting her tertiary education in Cusco, supported by LAFF partner Mosqoy, Anita shared her reflections on the transition and aspirations for the future.
Anita was a student at Sacred Valley rrrrProject from 2017–2021, successfully graduating and undertaking a degree in environmental engineering in 2022, supported by Mosqoy.
In the future, Anita would like to work with families and in communities, helping make land that would otherwise be infertile, fruitful. She understands the vital importance of this land to local communities, being a descendant of a long line of farmers. Finally, she commented on her experience at SVP:
“I feel very happy, and proud at the same time, but more than anything I feel happy because I feel I have many opportunities that help me to achieve my goals.”
SVP and Mosqoy have both benefitted from LAFF impact partnerships — covering educational costs, providing personal development support and strengthening organisational capacity development across monitoring and evaluation, fundraising and communications.
An example of this dual support at SVP included both covering the costs of tutoring and working with the organisation to implement a process for tutors to capture feedback. This qualitative monitoring process documented young people’s development throughout the year to better support them going forward, amplifying the impact of this educational intervention beyond the direct time spent tutoring.
